Spring

Spring is a time of renewal, of new energy and vitality, a time to shine. Ireland’s no different. Springtime comes early to Ireland, and you can trace the season with the blooming of the flowers. In February, you’ll already see the blooms of pretty snowdrops, celandines, and the first daffodils. March and April are sprinkled with the bright colours of wood anemones, gorse, periwinkle, marigolds, violets and more.

It’s also a busy time for wildlife. Open the windows of your bedroom at Knockcarrig House, and you may very well be awoken by the ‘dawn chorus’ of birdsong in the morning. Relax with a coffee, breathe in the fresh air, and rest your gaze on the soft greens of the meadows and mountains from your bedroom. Where better to celebrate Earth Day than surrounded by the quietness of the Irish countryside?

Spring is a busy time in the towns as well, with St. Patrick’s Day on March 17 and Easter, and a perfect time to get away and start the year afresh with friends and family. Knockcarrig House has room for everyone, with enough space to accommodate large groups in a modern holiday rental, where our focus is on quality and refinement.

As a luxury self-catering house, Knockcarrig is ideally located in a residential rural location, with easy access to Killarney, Kerry airport, and all the riches Kerry has to offer. Come enjoy the first awakening of the Irish countryside at Knockcarrig House.

Autumn

In autumn, enjoy the authentic Irish experience and the alternating sunshine and showers this country is known for. After all, Ireland wouldn’t be so lush without the soft and misty rain!

Autumn has bright days and cool nights, and there’s still plenty of activity, but time feels slower and gentler, ideal for enjoying Kerry’s fine restaurants, long walks, shopping deals, and outdoor activities.

We love celebrating the seasons with our family and friends, and we know you do, too. Autumn is a lovely season in Ireland, and a perfect time to take regroup around a blazing fire in the evenings with a strong cup of tea or a glass of wine.

Enjoy Thanksgiving or Halloween in Ireland, surrounded by those you love, and make it a holiday you’ll treasure forever.

Knockcarrig House is an ideal holiday rental at the heart of County Kerry, where you enjoy the changing season of Killarney National Park’s oak forests, accessible within a few minutes by car from the house.

Winter

Have you heard of Kerry’s famous native strawberry tree (arbutus unedo)? If you haven’t yet encountered this beautiful tree, winter’s the time to discover the small, bell-shaped cream flowers and its bright red fruit, not quite a strawberry. The strawberry tree is famous here because, truly, it shouldn’t even be here at all, but thanks to Kerry’s temperate climate, this beautiful tree has made its home here.

Winters are often quite mild in Kerry, and while you most likely will only see snow on the mountains, some days can be quite nippy, too.

Sit outside at Knockcarrig House with a warm blanket to breathe some fresh country air, and after enjoying the outdoors and come inside to the geothermal central heating system, stove, and open fire, and make your evenings romantic as well as warm. Cook up a truly delicious meal together in the modern fully-fitted kitchen, and later sit down in the lush leather living-room sofas to enjoy a board game or challenge someone to chess.

Christmas, Hannukah, and New Year is a special time for many families, and can be a truly magical experience in Killarney. Knockarrig House is open throughout the holidays, and we welcome you and your family and friends during this time, too.

If you’re looking for a special way to say “I love you”, why not bring those you care for on a special Valentine’s trip to Ireland, where you know a luxury holiday home that’s worthy of them awaits. We’re open all year, whether it’s your first time in Ireland, or you’re working on your own version of Groundhog Day and returning to Ireland on your second, third, or fourth visit!

Welcome to Knockcarrig House. We look forward to hosting you, any time of the year.
